Filmmaker Hannah Sutherland returns to her birthplace in Hubei, China for the first time since her adoption, following traces of a story that was never told.

Hannah was adopted by an American family in 2002 and raised in Wisconsin, far from her origins. Over two decades later, she returns in search of a connection to her past. Since names were lost and shame kept stories buried, finding her birth parents is a distant possibility. Instead, she returns to find her orphanage and places tied to her abandonment, rooted in the hope that the land itself might hold her story.
