Award-winning American Filmmaker best known for the feature documentary FREE ANGELA & All Political Prisoners and the Peabody Award winning documentary CHISHOLM ’72: Unbought & Unbossed.

The feature documentary FREE ANGELA & All Political Prisoners is a first hand account of the events that thrust Angela Davis into the national spotlight from a young college professor to a fugitive on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted list. The film received critical acclaim and premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and won the 2014 NAACP Image Award for Excellence for Best Documentary.

She has produced and scripted stories that have aired on BET, CNN, ESPN, HBO Sports, TV One, and PBS. In 2013, The Sundance Institute selected Shola as one of five women who show great promise to be mentored in their prestigious Women’s Filmmaker Initiative. Shola was also recently awarded a prestigious Creative Capital Award for her next film, a narrative on the great liberator Harriet Tubman.

As a filmmaker and curator, Shola has become a highly respected public speaker, lecturer and panelist on the subject of film and film history for universities, film festivals and corporations. She has recently screened and/or presented to groups including Harvard University, The University of Pennsylvania, Yale University, University of California at Los Angeles, The Guggenheim Museum, The Tribeca Film Festival, The Sundance Film Festival and The Toronto International Film Festival.

Jeff TamblynJeff Tamblyn

Jeff Tamblyn is the Director of Educational Sales and Distribution at Kino Lorber, Inc., with responsibilities in marketing and acquisitions. A former member of New Day Films, Jeff is also the director/writer/producer of the award-winning feature documentary, Kansas vs. Darwin. He has over 30 years' experience in film and video production and is a graduate of the University of Kansas.



A former lawyer in Romania, Bogdan George Apetri moved to New York where he graduated from Columbia University's Film Program with a MFA degree in Film Directing. He wrote and directed a series of student films that screened and won awards at prominent short film festivals across the world (ClermontFerrand, Rotterdam, Palm Springs, Cottbus, Montreal, Aarhus, Rhode Island, Woodstock etc). He was a National Finalist at the Student Academy Awards in 2006.

In 2010, he directed and wrote the feature film Periferic (Outbound). Funded in part by Romania's National Center for Cinema, the film was shown at some of the best festivals across the world (Locarno, Toronto, Rotterdam, New Directors/New Films) and won numerous international awards (Thessaloniki, Warsaw, Viennale) including the FIPRESCI Award (The International Federation of Film Critics Award) twice. Bogdan co-produced 3 Backyards by Eric Mendelsohn, a feature film that won the Best Directing Award at Sundance in 2010 and was selected for New Directors/New Films in New York. He coproduced Advantageous by Jennifer Phang (Sundance 2015), “The Bravest, the Boldest” by Moon Molson (Sundance 2014), The Mend by John Magary (07' SOA) and produced Love Hunter by Nemanja Bala (06' SOA) and Brane Bala (00' SOA).
