Inspired by the real event; The Bir Al-Abed massacre; On 24 November 2017, Al-Rawda mosque near the town Bir Al-Abed, North Sinai, Egypt was attacked by forty gunmen during the Friday prayers. The attack killed 311 people and injured more than 122 others, making it the deadliest attack in Egyptian history. Abed, a 9 years-old-boy has a simple dream; to get a new white shirt. He asks his father for it but his request gets denied. He then steals his brother's shirt but gets caught promptly and ends up in tears. As the events progress, we get to know that his simple dream will never come true.

    Saqr is a pioneer of the independent film movement in Cairo, Egypt. His work includes award-winning feature films that have been screened in major international film festivals such as Cannes, Toronto, and London. His film career started as a UPM of "Heliopolis" in 2008. He has since produced 4 feature films, including the award-winning Microphone (2010) and Rags and Tatters (2013) as well as numerous shorts. Saqr moved to the UAE in 2011 to join Image-nation Abu Dhabi Media Company to work as an assistant director of the feature film "Sea Shadow". In 2013, he moved to New York City to pursue his writing and directing career where he joined the MFA program at The City College of New York in 2017.
    Saqr is born and raised in Cairo and carries a BA in social science from Cairo University. He is currently involved as a producer in the pre-production of 2 feature films scheduled for release in 2020.

    TJ Ali Bowden

    TJ Ali is a rising filmmaker and TV/Digital Producer having produced linear pilot TV shows for networks BET Networks, NBC Entertainment, REVOLT TV and most recently VICE Media’s VICELAND network. TJ was awarded a fellowship in the International Radio and Television Society program in 2014, which catapulted his career in linear television. TJ is embarking on a new fiction storytelling journey. He lives in New York City and hails from the south side of Chicago.
